We are a small and friendly climbing club with members mainly in Hampshire and West Sussex (Portsmouth, Southampton, and Chichester areas) although we do have members from further a field.
We organise a full calendar of climbing meets throughout the year, and enable like-minded individuals to enjoy climbing and the outdoors. We try to find places to climb that are suitable for lower and mid grade climbers.
Our organised meets provide a mix of both trad and sport climbing, with visits to local indoor walls when it’s raining. In addition, our members often suggest and organise extra day trips when they can.
The HMA also has Rock Climbing Development Instructor (RCDI) qualified members, this is a nationally recognised climbing instruction qualification. We also have a range of climbing equipment which can be lent out to new climbers.
We participate in numerous activities centred around mountains/hills and crags including:
Rock climbing – single pitch, multipitch, traditional, sport and boulder
Indoor Climbing - top rope, lead, boulder
Hill Walking
Mountaineering
We normally average two outdoor meets each month during the spring, summer and autumn.
We informally meet up at the Chichester climbing wall on most Monday and Thursday evenings, and at the Parthian Southampton wall on Wednesday evenings.
